Groomsport Masonic Lodge was founded in 1911, and currently sits in the Maxwell hall on the first Thursday of every month (Sep – May).

The purpose of the lodge is to raise money for charity and continue the friendship and brotherly love in the local community and beyond. These are the founding principles of freemasonry and these principles of helping others can be hard to find in these modern times.

Freemasonry is sometimes referred to as a “Secret Society” but this is far from the truth. Yes, there are secrets in the ritual and craft of the Masonic order but the truth is the order exists only for the greater good of mankind and to benefit those less well off and more unfortunate than ourselves.
